Shrove Tuesday 21st February
Pancake Day is Tuesday 21st February and it's traditional to get out your pancake, or crêpe pan and make savoury or sweet pancakes. The batter is essentially the same but the variations are countless as you can add your choice of flavourings and fillings to each and every pancake, for something a little different take a look at the recipe in our Foodies Area for Cinnamon Pancakes with Honey Glazed Bananas. To make your pancakes you'll need a measuring jug, scales and maybe some measuring spoons; a whisk to mix it all and a ladle for spooning the mix into your pan. A traditional crêpe or pancake pan is either completely flat or has shallow sides so that it's easy to turn the pancake. You can either use a spatula to turn your pancakes or try your skills at flipping pancakes with the flick of a wrist - if you're going to do this then a lighter pan is definitely easier to handle. A classic British pancake is just topped with a squeeze of lemon juice, try the segment squeezer, and use a sugar shaker to add a sprinkling of sugar.
